Summary
Rhamnose, 6-deoxy-L-mannose, exists widely in polysaccharide, glycoside, plant gum and the bacterial polysaccharides in plant. It is derivatives of Mannose which hydroxy at 6th bit is substituted by hydrogen, namely 6- deoxy -L- mannose, the naturally distributed product is L type.
It is also called methyl pentose. The sugar chain structure always come to be antigen specific factor. It exists in the leaves and flowers of Rhus in free sugar form or in the form of composition sugar of polysaccharide, such as Rutin and Arabiagum.
