Silymarin is a class of flavonoid derivatives lignans which is the condensation of Dihydroflavonol and Phenylpropanoid derivatives, it is extracted from fruits and seeds of the asteraceae herb silybum marinaum (L) Gaenrt. Currently total flavanolignane in Silymarin for preparation is about 80% in the international standards, in which mainly contains four kinds of isomers silibinin, isosilybin, siliehristin and silidinain, in which silibinin is the most used and has the highest hepatoprotective activity.
