Metronidazole

This product is a nitroimidazole derivatives, it can inhibit the oxidation reduction reaction of amoeba protozoa and break nitrogen chain down. It has strong effect of killing trichomonad. Antibacterial spectrum includes that bacteroides fragilis and other Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, bacillus, gas producing Eubacterium, peptococcus and Peptostreptococcus etc. Its bactericidal concentration is slightly higher than that of inhibitory concentration. Metronidazole has killing effect on growing cells under hypoxic condition and anaerobic microbes, its metabolites generated in the human body when being reduced also has the function of anti anaerobic bacteria, but it has no effect on aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria.

Properties: This product is white or light yellow crystal or crystalline powder; light smelly, tastes bitter and light salty.

Solubility: This product is slightly soluble in ethyl alcohol, very slightly soluble in water or chloroform, extreme slightly soluble in ether.
