Artemisinin is mainly directly extracted from Artemisia apiacea, or firstly extract the higher content of artemisinic acid out then get the product through semi synthesis technique. Despite from Artemisia apiacea, there is not other natural plant resources containing artemisinin ever found.
Properties: It is colorless acicular crystal, taste bitter.
It is easily soluble in acetone, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate and acetic acid, soluble in ethanol, methanol and mineral ether, almost insoluble in water.
Melting point: 156-157 ℃(decompose after decoction with water)
