Background of the Project
 
Heparin-binding protein (HBP) is a granule protein derived from mature neutrophils, primarily stored in azurophilic granules with a small fraction in secretory vesicles. HBP, a member of the serine protease family, lacks protease activity but exhibits high affinity for lipopolysaccharide lipid A.
 
Upon neutrophil activation, HBP is released during degranulation. In cases of acute bacterial infection, blood HBP concentration can significantly increase within 1-2 hours, while in viral infections, HBP either does not increase or increases only slightly. HBP levels also act as a prognostic indicator, decreasing rapidly with effective treatment. Thus, detecting HBP in patients' blood aids in clinical diagnosis, prediction of acute bacterial infections, assessment of infection severity, and monitoring antibiotic efficacy. Compared to traditional inflammation markers, HBP rises more rapidly and demonstrates better specificity during bacterial infections.
 
Clinical Applications of HBP:
a) Auxiliary diagnosis and differential diagnosis of infectious diseases;
b) Positive correlation of HBP concentration with infection severity, useful for assessing the severity of infection;
c) Auxiliary diagnosis of sepsis. HBP is recommended by the "Chinese Severe Sepsis/Septic Shock Treatment Guidelines (2014)" and the "China Expert Consensus on Early Prevention and Intervention of Sepsis 2020" as an excellent indicator for diagnosing sepsis.
d) Sepsis prognosis assessment. HBP, with a half-life of less than 1 hour, quickly reflects the patient's therapeutic effect and is closely related to sepsis prognosis as a pathogenic factor.

Fluorescence Immunochromatography (Lanthanide Eu Chelate Filling) Platform:
Antigen to be tested: Heparin-binding protein antigen (HBP antigen) (Cat. No.: EDD0159B/EDD0159C), sample/standard adding volume: 5 ul;
Reaction conditions: Mix sample + fluorescent solution, load sample, reaction time (10 min-15 min);
