Blood gas analysis (BG) is a method for evaluating the respiratory function and acid-base balance in the human body. It involves measuring the concentration of H+ ions and gases (primarily CO2 and O2) dissolved in human blood using a blood gas analyzer. This analysis provides direct insights into lung ventilation function and the body's acid-base balance status.
 
 
Measurable Parameters of Blood Gas Analysis
Over the years, blood gas analyzers have evolved to measure various parameters, including:
 
Basic blood gas parameters: arterial oxygen partial pressure (PO2), arterial carbon dioxide partial pressure (PCO2), arterial hydrogen ion concentration (pH), and hematocrit (HCT).
Electrolyte parameters: K+, Na+, Ca2+, Cl-, AG (anion gap).
Biochemical metabolism parameters: lactic acid (LAC), glucose (GLU).
Blood oxygen parameters: SO2, tHb, O2Hb, HHb, COHb, MetHb, bilirubin, and others.

Blood gas analysis technology can be categorized into three major types based on methodology:
 
Test piece type: Dry blood gas. Ideal for scenarios with small sample sizes and portable equipment.
 
Bedside test kit: Designed to meet clinical users' needs for easy, simple, and maintenance-free products. The wet methodology ensures cost control within acceptable limits.
Traditional electrode: The traditional electrode method offers cost advantages, especially with large sample sizes. However, it involves complex operation, challenging maintenance, and a wide variety of consumables.
